The Return of La Virgen Route

per person
Urban and rural route

Every seven years, the Virgen del Rocío returns to Almonte to renew one of the most important Marian events of all those celebrated in Spain. The fervor that the Image awakens, together with the singularities treasured by a tradition that has been celebrated since 1589, make up one of the most authentic and unique religious expressions in the world. With this route, designed by the City Council, with the contribution of the Governing Brotherhood of Almonte, we invite visitors to experience this tradition first-hand by going through the twelve most iconic points that the Shepherdess follows on the 15-kilometre route, which is the distance between two emblematic points: the Hermitage of Rocío and the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church in the center of Almonte, forming the link between the people of Almonte and their Queen of the Marshes.
